Spiced crispy prawns

20141004_231642This is more of an evening snack than  a regular lunch or dinner meal. But since it is so simple to make, I decided to ‘complicate’ it a bit and make gravy and rice also.
Ir 500 grams of prawns, put half a teaspoon of red chilli powder, a little turmeric powder and salt (to taste) and shallow fry for a few minutes until brown. Remove and keep aside.
In the same pan, shallow fry a large, coarsely-chopped onion for a couple of minutes.20141004_231600
For the gravy, take a few cloves of garlic, a small piece of ginger, a large tomato and a large onion and mix into a paste in a blender. Add red chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder and cumin powder and fry in a little oil until the oil separates from the masala. You can chop in a green chilli as well depending on the taste. Add a little water, cover and leave to simmer for a few minutes. Also make some steamed rice.
Serve the prawns along with the gravy and the rice.
A truly ‘twisted’ experience!!
